Eden Grove Cottage

A very warm welcome from Rachel & Dave to Eden Grove Cottage where we hope you will have a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Eden Grove Cottage is a 200-year-old converted stable that has been modernised and updated making it into a beautiful and charming holiday home. The house has been lovingly decorated and furnished with you, our guests, in mind to make your stay as comfortable and memorable as possible. We’re sure you’ll find the cottage and village of Armathwaite has everything you need to unwind and relax.

Armathwaite is situated on the famous and picturesque Settle to Carlisle railway line that often runs special steam train journeys. The station is about a 5-minute walk from the cottage and it takes about 15 minutes to get to Carlisle.

The broad Eden river and its bridges are the predominate feature of the village, its course has dramatic moments where sandstone cliffs plunge 200ft down to turbulent rapids, appealing to walkers, canoeists, climbers, fishermen and peregrine falcons.

Woodland lines the streams that tumble off the fells to the Eden. This is superb walking country with fine views, miles of footpaths, magnificent Victorian promenade walks and rough fell walking on the vast Pennine hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The quietness of the roads makes driving relaxing and is of great benefit to the enjoyment of cyclists. The Eden Valley is part of the Cumbria cycle way, with verges and meadows full of flowers and an abundance of wildlife.

Eden Grove Cottage has a traditional farmhouse style kitchen with a beautiful Rayburn and exposed sandstone wall. The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric oven, hob, fridge, and dishwasher. There is a dining area in the kitchen with a large pine table, perfect for both intimate meals and for entertaining larger parties.

A contemporary shower room is situated off the kitchen at the back of the converted garage. This leads into the garage where there is a washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge freezer. This area is perfect for storage of bikes, muddy boots and wet gear.

Leading from the kitchen is the cosy living room comprising of log burner, leather sofas, TV, DVD player and CD player along with reading material and local information.

Following the winding wooden stairs out of the living room takes you upstairs to the three tastefully decorated bedrooms. Each bedroom features exposed beams and has hanging and storage space and a double bed. The upstairs passageway boasts exposed sandstone and wooden beams. Another bathroom can be found at the end of this passageway comprising of bath with electric shower, basin, toilet and large storage cupboard

There is an additional separate toilet with hand basin adjacent to this. Outside the cottage is a sheltered courtyard area perfect for soaking up the sun throughout the day.

Eden Grove Cottage has much to offer guests. It can be a relaxing and quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of daily life or alternatively, an action-packed holiday embracing the beautiful Eden Valley.
